Make a Difference
You can make a difference! Even a few hours when you are available, greatly contributes to the training of our medical and nursing students and helps them to gain valuable experience and satisfaction through interacting with people like you.
Simulated Patients have been providing an invaluable service as volunteer members of the clinical skills team since 1997. Helping to train our undergraduate and postgraduate medical, dental and nursing students, they provide an unrivalled experience for the students in terms of communication and examination skills. Please be assured that during any examination session, our priority is that you feel comfortable taking part.
The University of Dundee Medical School is one of the few to introduce student contact with Simulated Patients within the first semester and this continues throughout the students time at University. As well as committing to the undergraduate programme our simulated patients also work with qualified healthcare practitioners, again providing an invaluable resource for teaching and learning.
The Patient Bank Programme is based in the Clinical Skills Centre which is located in Ninewells Hospital and Medical School. The Centre offers a realistic clinical setting for students to practice communication and practical skills and the facilities include consultation rooms, demonstration rooms and a simulation suite.
